Welcome to Beacon Survival. By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using the Beacon application or any related content provided by Beacon Survival ("Beacon," "we," "us," or "our"), you ("you" or "user") agree to be bound by the terms set out below. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not purchase or use our products.
Beacon is an educational tool. It is a survival preparedness application that organizes general reference information — written content, AI-assisted question answering, and offline maps — to help you learn about emergency preparedness on your own terms.
Beacon is intended to be one resource among many in your overall preparedness planning. It is not a substitute for professional training, qualified medical care, licensed legal or financial advice, certified emergency response, or your own informed judgment in any situation.
You should always consult qualified professionals before taking action on matters that involve your health, safety, finances, legal rights, or the wellbeing of others. This includes but is not limited to:
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, mental health crisis, or any threat to life or safety, contact emergency services in your area immediately.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Beacon Survival, its owners, employees, contractors, suppliers, affiliates, and agents shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with:
This limitation applies regardless of whether the claim is based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory, and applies even if Beacon Survival has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
You acknowledge and accept that you assume full responsibility for any decisions made or actions taken on the basis of information accessed through Beacon.
Beacon's content is compiled from a wide range of sources and is reviewed for general usefulness, but we do not guarantee that all information is current, complete, accurate, or applicable to your specific situation. Survival, medical, legal, and regulatory information changes over time. What is appropriate in one location, climate, or circumstance may be inappropriate or unsafe in another.
The AI-assisted features of Beacon ("Ask Beacon") use language models that may produce incorrect, incomplete, or misleading answers. AI output should be treated as a starting point for further research, not as authoritative guidance.
We do not guarantee that Beacon will be available, functional, or accessible at all times, including during emergencies. Hardware can fail. Software can crash. Batteries die. You should never rely on Beacon as your sole source of information in a life-safety situation.
When you use the "Ask Beacon" feature, your questions may be processed using third-party AI services. The answers generated are not authored by a human expert and may not reflect current best practice in any field. We strongly recommend verifying critical information against authoritative sources before acting on it.
You agree not to submit confidential, sensitive, or personally identifying information through the AI features.
Beacon is sold as a recurring subscription. The price, billing interval, and number of covered users depend on the plan you select at checkout, and are shown to you before you confirm payment.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for your plan, using the payment method on file, until you cancel. We will give you advance notice by email before any change to the renewal price takes effect.
Payment is processed by Stripe. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal linked from your activation email or by emailing us. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not end your current period. You keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
If a subscription lapses or a payment fails, access to paid features on your devices is paused until the subscription is renewed. Content you have downloaded remains on your device, and your saved information is not deleted. Resubscribing restores access without re-downloading anything.
Family plans cover the stated number of people. You may share access with the people your plan covers; you may not resell, publish, or distribute your access beyond that.
If Beacon is not what you expected, contact us within 14 days of your first purchase and we will refund it in full. Renewal payments after that first period are non-refundable, but you can cancel at any time to prevent the next renewal, and you keep access through the end of the period you have paid for.
If you are charged in error or something goes wrong on our end, contact us and we will make it right regardless of timing.

You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Beacon for your own preparedness purposes. You may not:
Beacon also incorporates content from open-source and openly-licensed sources, including OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, openstreetmap.org/copyright) for map data. Such content is subject to its respective open licenses, which are honored throughout the application.
You agree to use Beacon lawfully and responsibly. You will not use Beacon to:
Beacon is designed to function offline as much as possible. The guidance library, the offline maps you download, and your saved information stay on your device and are not transmitted to us.
Some features send data off your device when you use them and a connection is available. Questions you ask that are not answered from the on-device library are sent to Groq. Photos you submit to Camera Identify are sent to Anthropic. Voice recordings you make in the app are sent to OpenAI for transcription. These providers process that content solely to return a result to you. Weather alerts are requested by your device directly from the National Weather Service, so your coordinates are not sent to our servers.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
For the full details of what is collected and how it is handled, see our Privacy Policy.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Beacon Survival, its owners, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or related to your use of Beacon, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Beacon after a revision constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We encourage you to check this page periodically.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
